3D and Spatial Design(29th Oct)

Today is the final day of the rotation for 3D and Spatial Design...
I was asked to bring all the work i did in these 2 weeks time..
Here is a little peak of the structures i made....
As in this week i have been making this structure and i found it would be better for me to experiment with materials a bit more...because i have been using papers, cards, wires, toothpick and blend-able plastic...which is not a wide range of materials used...

A structure that can walk through, but not a building:

A structure that can contain something, but not a box

A structure that can hold the human body, but not a chair

After i finished this "Chair" i found that i forgot the whole thing of creating a modular structure, so i redo the whole thing again for the "Chair". The bellow are the "Chair" that i remade...it is actually made out of plastic...blend-able plastic in exact...

3D and Spatial Design(25th-28th Oct)

This week I have been making my final product for these 2 weeks project....I need to produce 3 final products which need to be a modular..

3 structure that i need to produce is:
A structure that can walk through, but not a building
A structure that can contain sth, but not a box
A structure that can hold the human body but not a chair

I started by making some sketches with the inspirations of the photos i took last week and the secondary research on modular...=)
The followings are some sketches that i did in my sketchbook

The followings are photos that i get my inspirations of ideas from:

3D and Spatial Design(18th-22nd Oct)

This week is the first week of 3D and Spatial Design....
On the very first day of this rotation, I was asked to make a group in order to make a 3D maps...My group contain mostly international students...(2 from China, 1 from Hong Kong, 1 from India, 1 from Thailand, 1from New Zealand and one local student)
We used different materials to form a 3D map which includes the representations of the countries we come from...
We decided to use the chairs in the room to represent the countries we come from....and used cardboards to make a whole which represents the lower down of the earth, New Zealand.... and london which is right the top of those wooden strips...so the wooden strips actually represents the northern side of the earth....which is london....
We also used colored electric tape to linked the chair and the wooden strips... Red is the color of china and hk is part of china too...so we linked the 3 chairs with red colored electric tape...
Thailand is blue colored tape and India is yellow colored tape...we can see that the ratio of the maps are not correct because most of the students in the group come from asian countries...and only 2 of them come from western countries...so the ratio of the countries are different... After we made the map...we think we can make the countries more recognizable....so I  decorated the tape between the wooden strips and my chair(Hong Kong)....so i stick my HKID card on the chair, cut out the skyline of hong kong then stick it on the tape between the wooden strips and my chair....
others cut out their famous buildings in their country....
On the second day, I was asked to draw the 3D map that my group made and here are the drawings

Then we are ask to draw 10 drawings with the 10 words from the word list given to us:
boundary, line, edge, contour, shadow, light, angle, direction.......etc..

Here are a few from the 10 drawings that i did:

Then I  need to use the materials that i brought with me to make structure or little models of the drawings that i drew....I need to use 3 different materials to make the models and the followings are the photos of the two models i made

Vis Com. Project 3 (13th Oct - 15th Oct)

In the last few days of the week, i have been finalizing my idea...At first, as seen on the last post, i want to make a sequence of posters...but after having a few chats with the tutors....i think this time i should go for something 3D instead of sticking to 2D....3D is much more visualize than 2D product...

MY MESSAGE TO MY FRIEND: STOP SMOKING IN FRONT OF ME, IT WILL CAUSE ME AN ASTHMA ATTACK
I start by the asthma inhaler that i used...and linked it with a package of cigarettes..after a few sketches...i found it would be interesting to make a inhaler out of cigarettes and the boxes...
In the very first, i made a inhaler out of the box and a few cigarettes..which in this part, i want to give a hint to my friend...about my pain of using the inhaler every day...while she is smoking...
The second part, i made the message a bit more clear by using only cigarettes to make the inhaler...and because i can't light the cigars indoor....i use some painted wire to pretend to be the smoke...

The last part might seems a bit weird, it is a inhaler made out of wires and a bottle of medicine that i normally take...i painted some of it red...to show it is kind of painful for me...because the medicine tastes like SH*T...and it is like forcing me to take it everyday...
I made some background for the inhalers too....i made the first one with loads of anti-smoking slogans covering my message...the second one...i put lesser anti-smoking slogans with my message...the last one...i made my message very clear in bold and red with only a few anti-smoking slogans....

EVALUATION:
After i finish the project....the tutor give me some advice....they told me it is better for me to put a real inhaler beside the inhaler i made, it is better for understanding of the message...Secondly...the background of the inhaler is too irritating and audience cannot focus on the inhaler...so it would be much better without the background....and this make the message more straight forward...
the following photo is showing the inhalers without the background:

Vis Com. Project 3 (11th Oct - 12th Oct)

These two days, i have been finding a way to present my ideas and concepts...
At first, i researched on different kind of ways to deliver a message...such as body languages, signs, key, email, letters.....etc...
Then i started to decide who the receiver and sender of my sequence to.....
I came up with one at last....
Receiver = my friend who smoke.....
Sender = me
to sum up the message that i want to tell her.....it would be
"I WANT HER TO STOP SMOKING IN FRONT OF ME"
______________
i want her to stop smoking in front of me...because i am born with asthma....if she smokes in front of me...it may cause me an asthma attack....which is really painful for me....
In my sketches/drawings... i want to show how when she smokes her cigarettes, i am inhaling medicine at the same time....i want her to feel the pain that i have to take medicine daily...
so it is like a daily routine of both of us, when she is smoking....i am inhaling medicine....
the following are some sketches that i have done today =D
